I work primarily with children, ages 2 through adolescence, parents, and families. I also see individual adults.
I work closely with parents and families in both evaluations and treatment. This can include family interviews, family therapy, and parent-child play therapy. Whenever I treat a child, I have regular parent conferences.
Seeking always to understand the child and family's strengths as well as weaknesses, I work with all ages on problems of anxiety, depression, social behavior, and family stress. I have had extensive experience with evaluating and treating young children.
Additionally I have a special interest in diagnosing and treating developmental problems and combinations of problems. These can include
Delays in one or more areas of development (relationships, language, motor, cognitive, etc.)
Learning Disabilities
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Autistic Spectrum Disorders, including Autism, Asperger's Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, Multi-System Developmental Disorders, and other complex problems
Emotional, social, and learning aspects of disorders such as cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, and other medical problems.
Other developmental disorders, sometimes in combination with medical or emotional problems, which do not conform to established diagnoses. "Official" or established diagnoses usually do not do justice to these children, who may have unusual strengths and weaknesses. Their behavior may be hard to understand by people who do not take the time and trouble to get to know the child well.
